Addressing a Diversity and Inclusion Issue:
Challenges Facing Millennial Women in the Financial Services Industry
For this presentation, I researched and addressed a diversity and inclusion issue focused on challenges facing millennial women in the financial services industry. The intended audience for my presentation was Human Resource professionals since they are typically the team that leads the charge when it involves inclusion and diversity efforts and promoting environments that provide opportunities for all employees.
In the presentation, I address what barriers exist for entry-level women, the pay and promotion gaps that still exist, and why certain biases and expectations have resulted in fewer women interested in the field. I also explore the role that intersectionality plays in the underrepresentation of millennial women and what future steps can be taken to achieve cultural competence. The main goal of this presentation was to educate Human Resource professionals and encourage change by providing actionable solutions.
